For most people, PDF is only considered as a document that can contain text and images. The PDF format has a more significant advantage than that seen by the eye, and this advantage is exploited by Bluebeam Revu as best as possible.
Basically, Bluebeam Revu is a software for reading and editing PDF documents. Still, its features are more focused on collaboration and customization of technical documents in the architecture, manufacturing, construction, and the like.
Features and Highlights
Bluebeam Revu has a set of markup features to annotate PDF documents in the form of arrows, lines, highlights, callouts, text, and so on. All markup that you just did is automatically remembered by Bluebeam Revu and stored in the Tool Chest so you can easily reapply the markup. Markup can also be saved manually and organized in the Tool Chest.
To make it easier to edit PDFs, especially when you are editing multiple documents, there are a set of keyboard shortcuts that you can directly use as is or change to make it easier to remember. Shortcuts do not have to consist of two or more characters. You can use just one character as a shortcut, for example the character K for adding arrow annotations to a document.
Another feature that needs more attention is the layer. Most PDF documents have at least one layer called the content layer. The layer mostly consists of text, which is sometimes enclosed in several images and forms. When you add annotations such as lines and sticky notes or others, annotations are stored in separate layers. In Bluebeam Revu, these markup layers are displayed in a separate panel next to the document area and also in another panel called Markups Lists.
Each markup can be saved into its layer, and any markup that you don’t want to see for a while in the document can be hidden by disabling the related layer. The way it works is the same as layers in general, for example, like managing layers in the photo processing software.

Bluebeam Revu also provides cloud storage for storing documents. Through online storage, you can provide access to team members, clients, superiors, or other interested parties to keep abreast of the project. These documents will be automatically updated every time you make a new change. Documents do not have to be PDF files.
You can save any file in cloud storage, but Bluebeam Revu can open only PDF files. Bluebeam Revu also offers Compare Documents and Overlay Pages features. The first is used to compare two PDF documents, while the Overlay Pages are used to compare several PDF documents. Bluebeam Revu highlights every difference so you don’t need to spend time searching for the differences manually.
