CCleaner is a quick system cleaning tool but its capabilities are not as simple as it looks like. Removing junk files is not the only thing that it is capable of.
It can detect the extensions used in your browsers, analyze disk to find out which files that mostly occupy the space, check out the startup list, uninstall software, update software, manage the system restore, and wipe the disk space with secure deletion to make its content irrecoverable.
Features and Highlights
Health Check is where you can perform a quick examination of your computer system. The result is grouped into four tabs, but only two tabs are available in the free edition. The rest can only be unlocked after you buy the Pro license.
The free two tabs are Privacy tab and Space tab, while the locked ones are Speed and Security.
The Privacy tab contains the data that can expose your online habit such as cookies, temporary internet files, and history.
The Space tab contains all of the files that are no longer necessary which include the files in the recycle bin, temporary application files, and temporary system files. The removal of these junk files will free up more space on your hard drive.
If you want to have more control over which files that CCleaner should scan and delete, then you should open Custom Clean. Whether you want to clear the thumbnail cache, empty the recycle bin, remove invalid shortcuts, or delete the internet cache, the decision is in your hands. Check off the things that you want to remove, hit the Run CCleaner button, and wait until it finishes the task.
Deleting all software that you don’t need anymore can sometimes free up room in your disk space much more than your expectation.
The list of installed software is alphabetically ordered so it should be easy to find the ones that you are looking for. If you fail, or if you are intimidated by the length of the list, there is a search box to type in the name of the software to find it quickly.
Sometimes, after you install a software, there is a new item that appears without your permission in the Windows startup list. This is troublesome as the number of items in the startup list can leave a huge impact on the boot speed.
CCleaner lets you view which software that immediately run after you sign in to Windows and disable or even remove the ones that you don’t need from the startup list.

There are still more features to explore in CCleaner. Among other things, you can tidy up the context menu by deleting the unnecessary entries, enable and disable system services, manage the scheduled task, and add CCleaner to the context menu of the recyle bin for easier cleaning.
The professional edition provides more advanced features like scheduling and smart cleaning to perform tasks automatically. If you are satisfied with the performance of the free edition, you can upgrade to the professional edition anytime you want.
